Lava Palm
Very early morning light on black lava rock and slow moving clouds on the Big Island, Hawaii. I went for a super long 175 sec. exposure here using a 10 stop ND filter. This allows me to shoot in extremely low light and keep the camera sensor exposed for much longer times than a normal photograph. This long exposure allows the sensor to 'collect' the light necessary without harsh reflections or shadows we normally see after the sun comes out. The Palm tree cooperated by keeping all its leaves perfectly still for the long exposure.
